My HEALTH

May - June 2012
Constant, Continuous Coughing did not stop me from running Edinburgh Marathon in May 2012. Followed by Cough and Chest pains running Lancaster Marathon in June 2012 (This was 2 days before I went to see my G.P. for medical consultation and advice).

July 2012
Underwent Periodontal Surgery on 8th August 2012. A synthetic bone graft was used due to bone loss. Had to take Pain Killers to kill the Pain, Ice-Packs to heal the swelling and Gauge to stop the bleeding. Stitches to be removed one week later!

Plantar Fasciitis -  The Golf Ball Exercise

I'm a sufferer of mild (Plantar Fasciitis). PF is a very common injury of the foot. It occurs when the lengthy fibrous plantar fascia ligament along the bottom of the foot develop tears in the tissue resulting in pain and inflammation.  PF usually starts as a tenderness or mild pain on the sole of the foot near the arch or heal.  Many treatments are available for PF, ranging from rest, stretching, strengthening, change of shoes, anti-inflammatory drugs and more serious could lead to surgery.

I first realized I had PF whilst running my 8th Marathon in Luxembourg 2011. I struggled along the course big time, it was giving me stabbing pains around my heals and the soul of my left feet. It's usually more intense first thing in the morning after I've completed a Marathon.........

Usually after sleeping the plantar fascia tightens and shortens during the night, causing plantar fasciitis pain. I've found by using a Golf Ball helps. I usually sit on a chair and roll a golf ball with the arch of my foot back and forth from the heal to the ball of the foot to ease the pain.

 It's not hurting anymore, I shouldn't complain J

The advantage to excercising is that you die healthier.... and the Number ONE reason to Run ULTRAS has to be 'Coffee and Doughnuts at the Start Line'!
